EMR Licensing Exam

  • Licensing exam is required for all new EMR graduates, except for those who are licensed in another province
  • After 3 failed attempts, applicant must take refresher course
  • Cost: $550 + PST for each attempt
  • NEW: The EMR licensing exam is now written online in a virtually-proctored setting
  • Anyone eligible to write an exam may apply for a Restricted licence, to work under the direct supervision of a SCoP member at the same level or higher.
    • Cost: $100 on top of practicing fee. Lasts 6 months, which may be extended once via Licence Restriction Extension form for $100
    • When you pass your exam, SCoP will remove your exam Restriction for you. If you need to change licence levels, fill out a Change of Status form

Eligibility

  • Must complete an approved program within the last 2 years
  • Programs not approved can be submitted for an equivalency assessment

How to Register

1) New! Go to copr.ca to register

  • Click on Examination Registration on the COPR website
  • Click Apply for EMR Examination
  • Click on New User to create an account
  • Select “Examination Application” and complete the application form
  • If applicable, apply for Testing Accommodations as part of the Examination Application:
    • The Disability Information form must be completed by a Regulated Health Care professional who has completed an assessment in the past year
    • Upload the completed form to the Examination Application
  • Submit fee payment ($550 +tax) for the Examination Application via credit card

2) Schedule the time of the Examination virtual proctoring session

  • COPR’s examination provider, Meazure Learning (formerly Yardstick Assessment Strategies), will send candidates an email with instructions approximately five weeks prior to the exam date. You must complete this step to complete the EMR Examination booking

3) Ensure proof of training program completion submitted

  • If not submitted with the Examination application, documentation of successful program completion must be uploaded to the COPR Applicant Portal before the deadline. Failing to upload sufficient evidence by the deadline will result in your examination application being cancelled. The refund policy will apply.
